US Broker - DIS Guide
This guide explains how to use the Document Imaging Service (DIS) within your brokerage software to submit necessary documentation to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Overview
The Document Imaging Service (DIS) allows users to electronically submit supporting documents to CBP as part of the entry process. This includes documents like the bill of lading, commercial invoice, packing list, and other necessary paperwork.
Steps to Submit Documents via DIS
- Login: Begin by logging into your brokerage software.
- Navigate to Transaction Manager: Go to the Transaction Manager and locate the entry you want to process.
Open the Entry: Click on the entry to view its details. Ensure that the transaction has been accepted by customs.
- Document Selection: You will be prompted to select the documents you want to submit. For example, you may need to submit the bill of lading, commercial invoice, and packing list.

- Document Preview: You can zoom in to review each document before submission to ensure accuracy.
- Additional Documents: If any required documents are not automatically ingested into the entry, you can manually add them.
- Click on Add Additional Documents.

Choose the file you want to upload and attach it to the submission.

Preview Submission: After attaching all the necessary documents, click on "Preview" to generate a preview of the submission. This will show you the CBP form as a PDF.
- Submit to DIS: Once you are satisfied with the preview, click "Submit PDF to DIS" to send the documents to customs.
- Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation message indicating that the submission was successfully sent to CBP.
- Status Update: After submission, the status will change to “DIS Sent.”
- Customs Response: Wait for a message from customs indicating whether the submission was accepted or rejected.
